My Water Is Popping!

This is Water Wall Of Fame week at John Welsh Elementary. This activity will immortalize the faces of students on the coolest poster in the history of Snackin’ Fresh, The Water Wall of Fame. The wall has been up for two weeks already with the faces of pop icons such as Selena Gomez, Tyra Banks, Prodigy of Mindless Behavior and Justin Timberlake. This week students of Welsh get to become like these famous stars JUST BY DRINKING WATER. If the paparazzi catches you drinking water before school you too will be on the Water Wall Of Fame.

Read the lyircs to this song Snackin Fresh students created. It is a cover to “Lip Gloss Is Popping” it will definitely HYPE you up…

My Water Is Popping
My Water Is Cool
I pop a Water Bottle every time I walk to School.

A Small Rest

After so many weeks of being busy bodies, the leadership crews had a relaxing activity “Poster Creation.” The students created posters for their special project as they munched on the sweetest amazing snack there is….GRAPES. The only thing missing from this leadership meeting was a cool summer breeze.
Check out these students working on their poster, if you tell Mr. Greg who they are at the next meeting you just may win a prize.

Hello CNN

I think the Snackin Fresh leaders deserve a big round of applause *CLAP, CLAP, CLAP* This week four students were interviewed by CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta. He was curious about the Snackin’ Fresh Leadership Crew’s involvement in the Healthy Corner Store Initiative. Students were able to demonstrate how they directly affect the amount of produce in their was a great week, and what maturity some students showed, they came to the interview DURING THEIR SPRING BREAK.

Thanks Snackin’ Fresh Leaders neighborhood with their garden business. During the visit the students got a little dirty and showed Dr. Gupta the direct seeding process, and he joined the activity as well! Overall it

Eat More Veggies – Have Less Wedgies

The busy week is over but wow! First I would like to thank the students who checked the blog and answered my riddles. As promised, this weeks blog riddle would be simple, look at the student’s pictures I post and when you see me in your Snackin Fresh meeting tell me who the student is. If the student student isn’t in your group just say so.

After the Seeding comes the Watering

Back to the week that was.

Between YES trainings and gardening the Snackin’ Fresh members were extremely busy. During the YES “How to Advertise Your Product” training, students learned the 4 P’s (Product, Price, Place and Promotion) and how to relate them to the garden business. The group was instructed to use catchy slogans in order to promote the product. Snackin’ Fresh members thought “Eat Your Veggies – Have Less Weggies” was an excellent promotion slogan for the garden business.
I think the slogan is catchy, it would definitely help sell eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, peas, peppers, and all of the other vegetables we have planted so far.

P.S. do not post the name of the student who is shown above, tell me when you see me at the next Snackin Fresh Meeting.

And for the students who can’t plant because as you say, “Mr. Greg I just got my nails done,” don’t worry, we will have gardening gloves ready :) .

In addition to gardening the Snackin’ Fresh students will also take part in t

Snackin’ Fresh Youth get Cudos from College Kids

This week I was at Arizona State University bragging to college students about the awesome work the Snackin’ Fresh Youth Leaders are doing. They really enjoyed the Water Wall of Fame idea (Which is coming back this year at Welsh Elementary). They thought it was cool that the Snackin’ Fresh leaders are growing produce to sell to corner store owners. Just goes to show that the Snackin’ Fresh Youth are awesome, even college students think you guys are great! Keep it up.

Seeding the Seedlings

Snackin’ Fresh members showed off their green thumb this week. But they turned brown after we distributed the soil for our seeds HAHAHAH! (I feel like I’m the only one that’s going to laugh at that. Was that a corny joke? Please forgive me, I tried)

This week’s meetings were really fun, we planted the seeds for our summer garden and the Snackin’ Fresh Leaders showed off their knowledge of planting. Leaders from last year were a big help to planter newbies like myself. I was happy to see that the older Snackin’ Fresh members remembered the lessons from last year. Some students instructed the group on how far to make a hole for the seeds, and other students instructed the group on the best watering techniques.

We planted seeds for cucumbers, jalapenos, yellow squash, kale, tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini, basil, and more. We hope to have a great garden season this year so look out for our veggies in a corner store near you!
