Tree Fruit

North Star Orchard is located in Southeastern Pennsylvania, and specializes in growing unique (heritage and new), flavorful, high-quality fruit and vegetable varieties that are normally not available commercially. We grow dozens of varieties of modern and heritage apples, peaches, and plums, as well as several kinds of Asian pears, European pears, and nectarines. We also grow a wide assortment of vegetables, including many heritage varieties.

All of the food we grow is sold directly to the people who eat it either at area producer-only farmers' markets or through our CSA options.  In 2008, we are offering a Veggie Share CSA option for pickup at the Headhouse Square Market.  Full details about the CSA can be found at our website (see address above).

We have always been interested not only in growing unusual varieties of fruits and vegetables and heritage variety preservation, but also in using the newest ideas and methods of growing, training, trellising, and crop protection. Our veggies are grown using organic methods, although we are not certified, and our tree fruit is grown using a combination of organic and IPM (Integrated Pest Management) methods.  We are very concerned about safety and the environment, and work hard to farm in a manner that is both sustainable and as safe as possible.
