Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella Salad


There are only a half-dozen ingredients in chef Alison Barshak's classic summer salad (including the salt!), so use the best of everything. You'll see Alison, of Alison at Blue Bell and Alison Two, shopping for tomatoes, basil and mozzarella at Headhouse Sunday.

Serves 1

1 beautiful, large tomato, cored and cut into 1/4 inch slices
Kosher salt, to taste
3 large basil leaves
2 1/2 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
2-3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Balsamic vinegar, to taste

 

Place tomato slices on the plate. Sprinkle with salt. Top with basil leaves and mozzarella slices. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic.
