It was called Night Market (because, yes, it was a street market held at night) and by 7:32 last Thursday evening - the light fading, the fountain at East Passyunk and Tasker sparkling - it was clear the mere words alone had held out the promise of magic.

The Food Trust's Night Market Philadelphia debuted in East Passyunk in fall 2010. Philadelphia's first street food bazzar featured food carts and restaurants serving the city’s best ethnic and regional American street eats – everything from tacos to takoyaki. The menu included the flavors of Japan, France, Mexico, Italy, Korea, the Caribbean and more, plus live music and fun drinks. The overwhelmingly popular East Passyunk event was the first of six Night Markets The Food Trust will host in neighborhoods throughout the city. |
